Ukrainian IKO Matsushima kyokushinkaikan karate championship among adults and juniors and All-Ukrainian tournament in kumite and kata among young men (14-15 y.o.) were held in Dnipro on September 12th , 2021. General supervision and organization were performed by Ukrainian IKO Matsushima Kyokushinkaikan Karate Federation, headed by shihan Dmytro Volynets (Lutsk). Tatami referees – shihan Ivan Zvizdun (Novomoskovsk), sensei Vadym Shumyk (Lutsk), sensei Oleksandr Bachurin (Lviv) and sempai Valentin Antsibora (Dnipro).
The competitions gathered 85 best sportsmen from Kyiv city and 11 regions of Ukraine: Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhya, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Poltava, Odesa, Lviv, Zakarpattya, Volyn and Mykolayiv regions.
Severe competition forced sportsmen from different federations (IKO Matsushima, КАN, WKB, WKO, IKO Matsui, Budo кai) to use all the techniques and strength in order to win. One could notice objective judging both in kumite and kata.
We are pleased to underline excellent performance of Ukrainian IKO Matsushima Federation sportsmen. They got three gold medals: Zabolotnyy Maxym (Novomoskovsk) in weight category below 70 kg and Matkovski Serhiy (Mukachevo) below 80 kg, and in kata – Konosh Evhen (Brovary) – over 80 kg.
We also notice great effort of members of separate branch of Ukrainian Kyokushinkaikan Karate Federation in Dnipropetrovsk region, headed by sensei Dmytro Golovin. Their work resulted in good organization of the competitions, therefore Ukrainian championship and Open All-Ukrainian tournament were held according to the plan and without delays.
We can truly say that these competitions became real OPEN UNITING championship for all the best sportsmen from different federations!
