All-Ukrainian Kyokushin-kan karate tournament dedicated to the fallen fighters of the counter-terrorism operation was held in town Brody on May 7th 2016. The competition hosted sportsmen from Rivne, Lviv, Zakarpattya, Odessa, Ternopil and Volyn regions.
The tournament was organized by Lviv regional Kyokushin-kan karate federation, guided by sensei Mykhaylo Chungin. Ukrainian Kyokushinkaikan karate federation was represented by 12 sportsmen from Lutskand Kovel, and 8 of them have won prize-winning places. Snytyuk Oleg, Kichka Anastasia, Kurlovych Oleksandr and Maryshchuk Lyubomyr won gold medals in their weight categories. Pisotskiy Dmytro, Osokina Anastasia and Bezdenezhnykh Maksim also got to final, but failed to win and remained with silver medals. And Dovgay Maxim won bronze medal in group 15 y.o., weight below 60 kg.
Team of branch-chief Volynets Dmytro has shown high training level and fighting skills.
“The tournament was a good test of physical training level for our fighters. It also pointed some mistakes, so we know what skills need more training before next competitions. And soon there will be one more chance for our juniors to show their training level. We organize Ukrainian cup in Dnipropetrovsk on July 5th. The competition in Brody has shown us what areas need more work, so our pupils know what to do now” – summed up Shikhan Dmytro Volynnets.
