Ukrainian Kyokushin Karate Championship in kumite and kata was held on April 17th2009 in Simferopol. 169 sportsmen participated in the competition. They represented Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhya, Kyiv, Kirovograd, Lugansk, Lviv, Mykolayiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Kherson and Kharkiv regions. There were also sportsmen from Russia.
As it is became traditional, sportsmen from other Kyoukushin karate versions participated in the tournament, too. All combats showed uncompromised fights. Sportsmen had high level of training and avoided significant injuries.
The championship attracted interest of spectators and VIP-guests – Chairman of the Crimean Council of Ministers, Simferopol city mayor and others.
