7thIKO Matsushima European Kyokushin Karate Tournament was held on October 15th2011 in town Eger (Hungary). 130 sportsmen from 20 countries participated in the tournament. Ukrainian Federation was represented by 4 sportsmen: Bugayov Pavlo (2 dan, Donetsk), Gavrylyuk Andriy (2 dan, Brovary), Bezyazychna Kateryna (1 dan, Brovary) Oleksenko Vladyslav (2 ku, Kyiv). Several sportsmen from our team couldn’t participate in the tournament because of various reasons.
Bezyazychna Kateryna lost a fight to Zhukovska Maria from Russia, who later became the winner in the weight category below 55 kg. It was a hard fight for both fighters.
It was the first time Oleksenko Vladyslav participated in the tournament among adults. In spite of his young age he showed good results in the weight category below 70 kg. In the second fight Vladyslav lost because of the judges’ decision, but he showed good fighting qualities.
Another Ukrainian sportsman in this weight category was Gavrylyuk Andriy. He fought very well and got to the semi-final, but received an injury and could not pass to the final and got only 3rd place.
Bugayov Pavlo showed good results in the heavy weight category. He fought well, and got the 3rdplace. If he had a little more luck he would get to the final.
We congratulate our sportsmen with their results at the European Tournament and start training to next competition.
