European Championship in Spain

The 10th European kyokushinkaikan karate championship was held in Spain on October 28-29, 2017. The competition was held in town Sanna Susanna (Spain, Barcelona). There were sportsmen from 17 European countries, Iran, Australia, Chili, Brazil and SA. Our Federation was represented by Branch Chief Dmytro Volynets and 5 sportsmen: Dovgai David (Lutsk) Lyskov Oleksiy (Brovary, trainer Gavrylyuk Andriy), Goncharenko Yaroslav (Dnipro), Matkovski Sergiy (Mukachevo) and Shevchuk Vasyl (Lutsk).

For the first time there was competition among juniors in addition to competition among adults, U-21 in kumite and also in kata.

Results of our national team:

Oleksiy Lyskov in category U16-17 (absolute weight category) won a silver medal in kata.

Sergiy Matkovski in category U21 (weight category below 80 kg) won a silver medal in kumite.

Yaroslav Goncharenko and Vasyl Shevchuk got to the top-8 list in category below 70 kg but failed to get to semi-finals. Also, Vasyl Shevchuk competed in kata and won a gold medal.

Kancho Yoshikazu Matsushima also visited the championship and guided a personal training after it.
