Volyn hosted traditional sports camp of Ukrainian Kyokushinkaikan Karate Federation. Camp instructors were Shihan Dmytro Volynets (5th dan, Lutsk), sensei Dmytro Golovin (3rd dan, Dnipropetrovsk), and Vasyl Shevchuk (2nd dan, Lutsk). The camp welcomed sportsmen from Volyn, Khmelnitsk, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
By tradition, karate fighters were accommodated near the Pisochne lake in Turiysk district. Camp schedule was rich of different trainings: kihon, kata, self-defense against cold weapons, technical and tactical kumite trainings, overall physical trainings and sport games. Usual day started with running training. Midday activities included technical trainings and bunkai. In the evening there were more trainings in pairs, and after the supper sportsmen could train individually, preparing for their kyu- and dan-tests. At the last but one day there was a night training for all the participants, including the youngest ones.
Camp program allowed some free time, and everyone could swim in the lake near the camp site, play different sport games or allow a little rest to restore strength. Of course, culmination of the camp was the attestation. Next higher ku was awarded to the fighters who passed the test successfully. Our special greetings to Oleksiy Ivanoiv, who passed the 1st dan test.
Organization of such camps is one of the best ways to train and educate karate fighters, as it strengthens both individual spirit of sportsmen and team consolidation of all the Kyokushin family.
