April 14, 2014

Zhytomyr regional Kyokushin Karate Federation held an open championship on April 13th, 2014. The competition was held in town Novograd-Volynskiy. There were different age groups, including children, juniors and adults. Ukrainian Kyokushinkaikan Karate Federation was represented by 6 fighters from Volyn regional branch. Among their achievements there were:

  • 2nd place – Vahno Oleksandr (age group – 14-15 y.o., weight category – over 60 kg).
  • 2nd place – Kulay Dmytro (age group – 16-17 y.o., weight category – below 70 kg).
  • 2nd place – Shevchuk Vasyl (age group – 18+ y.o., weight category – below 70 kg).
  • 2nd place – Lavrenchuk Oleksandr (age group – 18+ y.o., weight category – over 70 kg).

Bezdeniezhnyh Maksym and Dovgay David has also shown strong fighter character, but they didn’t get prize-winning places.

At large, considerable number of fighters took part in the competition and the championship was rather big. More than 300 fighters from different towns of Ukraine came to Novograd-Volynskiy. All of them have shown high physical level and good skills, combativity and fighting qualities. In spite of the situation in Ukraine there were many children who managed to participate in the championship.

The championship itself was too protracted. One of our fighter stepped on the tatami only at 7 p.m., and it affected his results. Also, there were some problems with side judges, but they were fixed during the competition.

We express our commendation to organizers of the championship! Our greeting to all the winners! We wish them further achievements and victories!
