6th International Championship “Golden Ring of Russia”

April 4, 2014

6thIKO Matsushima International Kyokushinkaikan Karate Championship “Golden Ring of Russia” was held in town Ivanovo (Russia) on March 30th. There were 296 fighters representing 26 towns from 3 countries. Ukrainian Kyokusinkaikan Karate Federation was represented by two sportsmen from Donetsk regional branch: Kondratenko Egor and Zvonyk Dan.

Zvonyk Dan wrote about the competition:

“Describing the tournament briefly – I’ve lost in Genten. But to say it more exactly, the reason is unfair judging, as the fight was dirty and provocative. Refereeing was terrible! All fights were misjudged in favor of teams from Russia and Ivanovo. For example, 3 fighters in my category (16-17 years old) deserved to climb up the podium, but all were misjudged. Of course, I do not blame in my loss only judges. If I had trained better, I would be able to get my opponent to Ipon (knockout). But don’t be too strict in your assessments. Still, I do not consider myself defeated! But it’s a pity I couldn’t uphold Ukraine’s honor!

I’m eager to congratulate Kondratenko Viktor on his first place in his category (age group 10-11 years old, weight over 45 kg). He has won early in 4 fights, and the final fight lasted only 4 seconds! Well done! My congratulations!”
