Russian Kyokushinkai Karate Federation Open Championship and Tournament

The Russian Championship among adults and children over 12 years old was held on February 25th–26th 2012 in Nizhniy Novgorod. 40 teams consisting of more than 350 sportsmen participated in this competition.

The tournament continued two days. On the first day there was tournament among juveniles and juniors, and on the second day there was tournament among adults.

Ukrainian “Kyokushin-Budo Karate” Federation was represented by 5 sportsmen: Zvonyk Dan and Bugayov Pavlo from Donetsk region, Leshchuk Olga from Volyn region, Ferens Maksim from Mykolayiv region, Biletskiy Alexander from Rivne region.

Ferens Maksim won the first place in weight category below 65 kg. Zvonyk Dan won the first place in the weight category over 60 kg in the tournament among juveniles and juniors. Some of the Dan’s opponents overweighted him by 20 kg! Olga Leshchuk won the 3rd place in the weight category below 62.5 kg. First fights of Bugayov Pavlo were very difficult. Although Pavlo has won, but he was unable to continue fighting. In the additional 3rd round of Biletskiy Alexander’s fight the victory was given to Russian sportsmen according to the tournament judges’ decision.

Our team has shown high skill level, although not all of the sportsmen won prize-winning places.
