3rdIKO Matsushima Kyokushin Karate World Cup was held on July 19-20 2010 in town Estepona (near town Malaga in Spain). Sportsmen from all the continents came to the tournament – there were participants from more than 30 countries.
Ukraine was represented by team of Ukrainian Kyokushin Budo Karate Federation (head – Volynets Dmytro) and team of Ukrainian Kyokushinkaikan Karate Association (president – Lukyanchik Sergiy). Efforts of sportsmen from both Ukrainian teams brought to Ukraine third place in team rating. Doronin Sergiy in the weight category 70-80 kg won the first place in the individual event.
International master of sports Svitlana Zhegar from our Federation in equal fight with Russian fighter won silver medal. It is Svitlana’s second similar achievement during last two years – she won 2ndplace at the World Tournament in Japan in 2008.

The tournament had its own specific – sportsmen fought outdoors at the bullring arena, tatami were heavily heated by the sun, fights ended late in the night.
As always, among tournament organizers there was Kancho Yoshikazu Matsushima, Hansi John Taylor. Famous Hollywood star, owner of 3rd dan in the Kyokushin Karate Dolph Lundgren was invited as distinguished guest of the tournament.
